I will NEVER, EVER, backdown from this until those nets are out of the picture at Lake Mille Lacs and beyond! NEVER!!
$$ sent – good luck Steve and I applaud your persistence on behalf of all Mille Lacs sportsmen and women!
Thank you to everyone for the support. We will need all the support from everyone you know, that you can muster!

I am on my knees…..
Thank you, everyone, for all of your past and present support!
This, most likely, will be a long and complex process–to reach our end goals.
That said, we’ve funded the first round and now are about to enter the 2nd round. It could be the last but most likely will not be. So, at this time, we need to, at least, duplicate our past funding efforts. Now, everyone and more (send this to relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors etc.), who put a $20 bill or more at this effort last spring, needs to do so again. Remember, you are investing in yourself and the future of yours. In other words, EVERYONE who is against unequal rights/access to our natural resources etc., needs to step up, again, now. This effort is far more reaching than Lake Mille Lacs! Far more reaching than just for anglers that fish Lake Mille Lacs.
Again, thank you all. Remember, this is not about me. Not about catching and getting caught with an out of season walleye LOL. There is no “I” in team. This effort is as much or more yours than it is mine. In the end, the dividends will be all worth your investment. Bet on it!! Be a team player…click onto the CASSTODAY link below and take your best shot.
Count me in again too Steve. Keep up the great job. Thank you. Kirk Klund

Donation sent, Steve. And thank you for championing this fight!
Sooner than later we will get them. And “them” is NOT the Native Americans. It is, simply, the Government that allows this mess/fraud/scandal, nationwide, to continue. This is hugely bigger than Lake Mille Lacs walleyes.
This is a piece by piece process. My case (Lake Mille Lacs netting etc.) being a small, but starting point piece of the overall process/end goals……
Our Mission:
Our fight is NOT with American Indians. It is with the U.S. Government.
In the short term, our intent is to put an end to exclusive rights that the U.S. Government allows Native Americans to exercise at Lake Mille Lacs, Minnesota and, ultimately, all over the entire nation. Our effort is based on the fact that all United States citizens are born equal, no matter of skin color nor ethnic origin and that all should enjoy their citizenry and natural resources equally.
In the long term, nationwide, our mission is to expose the flaws and failures within exclusive U.S. Native American Sovereignty. We want to force the U.S. Government into creating a new, modern day solution to Native American issues and by doing so, create better lives for Native Americans. We feel the exclusiveness allowed Native Americans within the U.S. has failed them and is, ultimately, out of control. Our mission is to force the U.S. Government into bringing ALL U.S. citizens together as equal citizens, based on ethnic origin and skin color–NOT excluding Native Americans. Our mission is to see Native Americans living within the SAME rules and regulations, without exception, as ALL U.S. citizens, nationwide, are mandated by the Constitution of the United States. So in the end, ALL of us, simply, get along without alienating anyone, no matter their ethnic origin or skin color.
Count me in!! I will spread the word to as many as I can in the Hayward area. Your efforts will make a difference! THANK YOU!
Breaking the U.S. Native American Sovereignty. Not going to happen.
Go for it, it will be fun to watch. Specially when President Obama “is a strong believer in tribal sovereignty.
Not to mention the billions of dollars owed to the Native Americans in treaty royalties.
3.4 billion awarded just last year to the Blackfeet Nation that’s one Nation getting their dues.
A pittance of $28 million just about to be released to the six northern Minnesota Chippewa tribes.
$109 million just sitting a waiting and collecting % since 1980 when/if the Sioux decide to accept it.
Much more all across this country getting their dues from the courts.
Seems the courts are siding with the Native Americans but hey you wont know if you don’t try right.
It will be fun to watch and stir up a whole lot of controversy and drama that’s for sure.
Hope we don’t end up with another 1862 incident.
Sorry for the downer just some thoughts rambling around.
I agree with the cause 100% but can’t help but agree with riverweed that its just not reasonable to expect a win. sportsman don’t have nearly the $$$ that the tribes do. We do have a lot of votes, but lets be honest, when it comes time to vote there will be a very small % of people with a fishing license that make tribal netting there #1 concern. Its amazing that in 2012 one race of people could be given rights and priveleges not allowed by others. I think, however, we may be stuck with it. April 12th is just around the corner and I wish Steve the best of luck, but if the appelate court doesn’t rule in his favor whats the next step?
Check this out Riverweed :
Supreme Court redirect on tribal sovereignty?
A shift in Supreme Court rulings was the theme of CERA’s workshop on Federal Indian Policy held late October in Shwano, Wisconsin. They showed how Court rulings have strengthened State sovereignty, while limiting Executive Branch authority, fee-to-trust, and the expansion of “Indian country.”
President Nixon’s Indian policy led to unlimited expansion of federal power to define federal Indian policy—and bypass Congress in the process! His Indian policies were bolstered by the 1974 Supreme Court decision Morton v Mancari. It ruled that federal race-based preferential treatment of tribes was not discriminatory because tribes were a “political entity,” and not a racial distinction.
That could change if the Supreme Court reviews Corboy v. Louie. If the Court’s shift prevails, it could overturn Morton v Mancari and rule that preferential treatment of Indian tribes violates the equal protection clause of the Civil Rights Act. Such preferences would likely face legal action to end or even reverse them.
The CERA presentation was brought to the State Capitol in Madison the next day for the benefit of Wisconsin legislators. However, word got out and most RSVPs were tribal attorneys from Minnesota. The workshop was aired on Wisconsin Eye, a public affairs television network.
It’s time to get with the times, we all live “Under one Nation”
all the different rulings and court cases make this very hard to follow. If Steve should happen to win this fight would the tribes right to run the casinos be taken away as well?

If the constitutuion means anything… it would not take away their right to a casino in my opinion, but allow me to open one up as well Just like it would either grant me rights to net/harvest walleyes when I feel like it or them to not be able to whenever they want, just like me, you & Steve In simple language, everyone, regardless of race or ethnic origin, will have the same rights in this country.

OH MY! If only that were true. We are talking about the same country that holds privilege over our heads to control us, are we not?????
Jess,
Have you come across this?
Your doing the BBQ prep, right, and having a beer or two and while your doing the cutting on the cutting board the knife touches a bottle cap and the cap is instantly magnetized to the knife. What is your reaction?
Tell you mine, bewilderment fallowed by playing with the knife and bottle cap.
What has this to do with the topic on hand? Nothing! The long drown out [censored] I had to offer, well this sounded better.
As to to the offerings of others the bS will be judged by the readers but not by me.
Whether Steve wins or not won’t be decided by us.
To do nothing is to guarantee the outcome.
It seems a little confusing to me that some choose not to support this. Steve is doing the heavy lifting on this. All he asked for is a couple of bucks to help out. Now, if you don’t have the money or don’t agree with the cause don’t contribute. But, I don’t understand how saying he has no chance to win makes any sense at all. It’s much like saying nobody has a chance to beat Obama so I won’t vote this year.
Oh well, it takes all kinds to make a world I guess.
Good luck Steve, we all (most) are watching and pulling for you!!
