What a difference a week makes. We were finally able to get off the shoreline breaks and fish deep rocks/gravel and mud flats this week. The fish are everywhere right now and hitting your jig like it is mid december instead of late january.
Most resorts along the east side have roads as far as the eye can see now. Truck travel to key areas including the Boot are being allowed. I would not recommend any off road travel yet. We did find a large ice heave that starts southwest of the Blue Jug and heads straight west. This heave has some thin ice/slush areas. It is shelved pretty good in some areas and a large field in others. This heave basically seperates center/greggs/fischers/8 mile etc south of it….the others north of it.
Lots of big fish this week and lots of fish to take home along all off shore structures. With 5 weeks left of the walleye season, now is the time to get up to the lake!
Until next week….we hope to see you on the ice!
