Looks like open water on Hunter’ webcam. Lyback’s is reporting ice piling up on all the south islands. Gonna be iffy on the pond for quite a while.

I think you guys are jumping the gun a bit…

Not posative about Hunters currently. We do have areas that have GLASS clear ice, it may just be a heave forming that contains some of the clear ice. Remember the big heave in the same spot last year?

As for Hawkbill, It is not pulled away. The ice is rifting near shore. The main sheet is sliding under the ice attached within 3-4′ of shore. I had to jump that rift a few days ago.

The Ice is doing some different things but temps are down now and things should start to settle down. I will be heading out there this weekend.
    Be safe.

Paul Douglass, in his 15 day forecast, is predicting 30s most days to the 1st…

Maybe so but there will be more freezing hours than warming hours which will make ice. Not FAST but still no loss.

We shot up there last night into wigwam bay.

They didn’t have much rain like we did down south here, they had a little bit of snow.

We fished in 17 fow and had 9 inches of clear black ice and it seemed to be still forming.

Stay safe however, some spots looked a little sketchy.

Not much to speak of. I forget exactly which day it drizzled for half day or so ( tuesday?) but it was not so much it ruined the ice from the top.
