Fished Mille Lacs Friday and Saturday. On Friday I didn’t get up there until 10:00PM, launched at Terry’s, water temp was 50. Was pretty quiet in St. Albans, only about 5 or 6 boats in the bay. Started pulling #12 Firetiger Huskyjerk right out of channel. Had my first box fish in 10 minutes, had my 4 boxed in the first 45. Worked the inside weedline at 1.0-1.2, no S turns, just a nice straight slow roll. Caught fish all the way up and down the shore to Pike’s, 4-7 FOW, in the clean sand and in the weeds. Everyone was gone by 1:30, I fished until 4:00 (got eerie quiet out there when there was no traffic on 169, it was awesome!) Caught fish all the way up until I left. 18 total, biggest was 24″. All my boxers were 19.5″.

Got back on the water at noon on Saturday, fished skis on the stones with little to show for it. No baitfish on the piles, even the daytime walleye guys were blanking, I saw lots of boats come, anchor, and leave in short amounts of time.

Had a guy from work, and his buddy join me at 6:00 for another spin around St. Albans. Fishing was slower Saturday night. We repeated what I’d done the night before presentation wise, ended up with 9, 4 for the box, a 23″, and the rest were cookie cutter 21″s. We were off the water at midnight.

Wouldn’t mind getting up there again this week, it certainly wouldn’t take much for someone to convince me to go…

    Dan,
very nice couple of nights. I was in the same bay saturday night, and thought fishing then was very slow, only had a few hits and fish. Nice night tho.
