Made a trip up last night, first of three over the next two weeks. Fished the SW side of the lake. Was greated with calm conditions arriving at 7:30. What a difference from the previous night I can imagine. Started trolling runs in the 10-12 foot range. The cabbage weeds are still strong in some areas, but have started dying in others. Pulling Lil Rippers, SSR #7 and #8, did not produce. A bit after 7:30 the first fish of the night hit a #7 Tail Dancer. A few fish later and we both were running these baits. Dark colors worked best with the cloud cover out. Running baits 7-8 feet down over 10-12 feet. Ended up netting about 13 walts by 12:30, with the biggest a bit shy of 26″. Boated a 23″ with a DNR Tag. Called it a night at 12:30 as we still had 2 hours home. Most fish came in 10-12 feet along weed edges or in pockets with scattered rocks near by. The few I cleaned were full of 2-3 inch perch. Water temp was 62-63 degrees. Seems like the best is yet to come as the water temps start to drop again. Will be back up the next two weekends. Anyone that ventured out on Friday deserved to fish in last nights conditions. Stay Safe and good luck to all venturing out over the next several weekends.

PS – can’t ever remember starting an October trolling run in shorts…bring on the fall weather!!!

Five of us,in two boats, fished Friday night and Saturday night. The bite was better for both boats on Friday[and less other boats to avoid]. In my boat my daughter and I had 11 fish boatside,8 from 16″-19″ and the other 3 were 21″-23″. Saturday we had 8 fish an 18″,19″, 4 between 20″ and 21″ a 23″ and my daughters PB a 26.5″

Netted approximately 20 fish last night with a two man limit. Biggest was 26. Fished SW side fishing from 8:30 to 1:45am. Trolling weedlines and small rock humps in 7-12 feet. Water temps were 58 degrees. Speed was down from last weekend at 1.6-1.8. Colors varied, banana style baits (tail dancers and wally divers). Nice, crisp night on the water. Heading to Red Door next weekend for the last trip on soft water. Good luck to all venturing out and stay safe with the temps dropping…
