Well I made it up and I did have 2 takers on my open seat. One guy is the Exgirl friends Dad (Doug). I’m sure everyone’s thinking how would that go. The other was a great guy that never has and wanted to fish with someone that fishes the lake (Nathan Seabrick). I hope we end up planning more trips!! Sat we all were planning on meeting up there between 6:30am to 7:00am. Well we all pulled into our meeting spot 1,2,3. I did pass Doug pulling the boat on 47 on the way up, what a slow poke. I decided where I was going out of and told them to head up to liberty beach and we’ll launch the boat. I thought I wanted to go to the blue jug my go to for fish. The waves weren’t really big but enough to slow me down not to mention the weight, Me, Doug and Nathan plus my 2 mutts. I’m sure Nathan was thinking oh my god there’s going to be dogs running around. Doug knowing the dogs as I have brought him out a few times before know how good boat dogs they are. It started out raining alittle and everyone had on rain suits but me, I only had the coat on.
We all stayed mainly dry I think because of the weight having the bow up. we get there and have alittle luck pulling in a few. When we didn’t get any for an hour I said time to change it up and lets move, everyone agreed and I said lets pull LC over this heading to the next flat to the south. We got all the lines in when the planer board on the side line released. I told dug to grab it but when he didn’t know that when the board was released just reel in like you normally would. My fault he never used one before and it was on before I could explain the workings of it. He was putting that line back out and right away wham another hit before we had the board on!! That was the only fish in that run being he was really slow getting that line out. Nathan did a great job (knowing alittle about LC) and I was glad to have him in the boat to help with Dougs problems!!
We ended up with the weather clearing and boating a few more fish. Doug then was complaining about being hungry and wanted to just go in for food, LOL we were in the middle of the lake. I knew it was going to take awhile with all the weight and knowing doug had to go home that night we worked our back. We got the doug back to his truck in time for his old lady that called telling him he had better be on his way (LOL). Nathan and I went and eat at Hunters point(To Go Boxes) so we could feed and water my mutts. The staff at Hunters made sure I had cold water for the dogs and brought us our food!! Nathan and I talked about where to go next and he left it up too me even though I tryed to explain what each place might have. I was hoping for input but I knew he hasn’t fished there and wanted to learn alittle about fishing the lake. I said all right we’re going to the gravel and see if we can get any box fish. Nathan and I got to the ceder creek landing about 6:30pm. We started fishing the highway bar with a bunch anchored up for the bobber bite. I think we pulled in a cupple and no one around was doing anything with the boober so I then say let use LC and we can cover more ground to find them. We end up going by a gravel hump with a boat on anchor and one in the boat. we went by again and another. we worked LC for the rest of the night on our way to the landing and got a bunch more. It was just enough to keep us from hauling in.
Nathan and I get back to the landing at about 11:20pm and loaded the boat, When we’re making the boat road ready I noticed a few spare rods I had in the back were gone. I get back to my fish house to sleep and see my clothes bag was gone, Some thiefs cleaned the back of my truck out!! oh well.
When we woke up (on the lake at 6:20) I said lets hit the gravel for some box fish hoping to pick some up. On the way out I said lets LC by where we saw the bugs last night and it was game on I think we caught 3 overs and one box fish in that spot on the way out and we had 5 overs, on the way in the night before. we hit the midget and nothing so we moved to the boot caught a bunch there with changing up a few times from rigs and spinners. the trick with spinners was 12′ rig and the blade color didn’t matter if it had a leech. It wasn’t fast enough so we went to LC and right away we had one. back and forth we picked up a bunch more. after we had a couple passes with nothing we pulled off the boot to the basin and got a few more on the way in. It was hot and the dogs needed to go back to dose them self’s with water so we jumped spots hauling [censored] then pulling on the way back if we caught we pulled again. We found out the first spot we pulled that morning was the best at night!! We went by one boat corking wand wham one in the boat. We pulled it back north nothing. Pulled it again and north and we had a 1,2,3 in 15min with one box fish. we hauled [censored] south and pulled north and missed 2 and a nice perch 12 inches.
We finally called it and went back to load the boat. Keepers were 2 15″ eye’s and 4 perch, one 12″ and one 13″.
I met Nathan for the first time and a great guy and I hope he teaches me some of that river fishing. I’m glad I posted the seat and I wish I was still fishing up there in the morning but I needed to have a change of clothes.
I hope the cops catch those kids and someone needs to teach them how to fish and not steal!! I would of takin them out or gave them the poles but please don’t take my clothes.
Nathan I’m sure you’ll read this and I’m tring to be true so if I messed any of this up let me know!!
Hope you made it home ok and let’s plan something
    Jason
