Mille Lacs Launches on West Side

Looks like the guys at our church are mostly interested in doing a night launch trip, and want time to get home from work before heading out, and prefer to stay on the west side of the lake for a shorter drive.

I have looked over some information and see that Terry’s Launch Service and Gregory’s Resort both advertise launch services that leave a 8PM. Terry’s also has an option for a 5 or 6 hr trip, if they can get a dozen people to go. I have tried Eddy’s a couple times in previous years, and have been unimpressed.

Does anyone have any experience with these launches? Good/Bad/Indifferent? Or is there a better option on the west side? Or is it better to go a bit farther and fish with Myr-Mar Marina?

So far, everyone is saying how wonderful the bite is. Does that seem accurate, or would you say these guys are exaggerating?

    Thanks!

Went out on Terry’s last Sunday. Was not real impressed. But, I don’t have a lot to compare it to. Terry himself seemed to be kind of a grouch. Ours was a church group. Fishing was kind of slow and once he anchored he never moved. We were on a 6 hour trip. Kids seem to get on his nerves. His helpers talked all day about how good they did on their own the night before. Just what we wanteed to hear when we were not cathcing fish.
I don’t want to sound like I am bashing Terry’s Launch because I really am not. Just telling it like I see it.
Someone told me they are all the same no matter what. Also remember the slot size has a big effect on how people feel. When you catch a fish and have to throw it back, you still have “NONE’. that of course isn’t the Launch operators fault.
    Again, just my .02.

Why is the West side closer than the Eastside ? Depending on your route, if from the TC’s, the Eastside is either closer or maybe 8 miles further, if you take 169 ??? Your really limiting yourself on that side only… I know for fact, the fish are hot on the Eastside And I know launches on the Eastside, that will move 3 or 4 times, in a 4 hour trip, catching fish at each stop

Twin Pines, I wish I could remember the drivers name, but a good guy that was really concerned about getting on fish, even stayed out an hour extra on the second day because he got us on some nice fish later in the trip. First time we came thru the door we were treated like regulars.

Twin Pines would be a good choice. The Enos try to do the best they can for anyone. We have had groups go there and they have made extra efforts to do well by us. You may be able to deal with them for a group. Good luck. I don’t think you will regret it.

Terry’s would be right on the bottom of the list. Actually would rather fish off a dock!

Many of us have long memories and don’t appriciate being called “Prostitutes” um I mean “Meat Hunters”. This guy is a class A idiot.

I get out on a launch a couple times a year. It can be a crap shoot as far as the catching part goes. I do like to see a Captain working to keep you on fish. I like to see the guys come around and make sure your bait is fresh every 15-20 minutes, stuff like that. A good captain can spot a troubled line quick. (Like a bait set too deep) Keeping every line down and in the zone = more bites. The guys as Hunters and Myr-Mar fit that description.

Yeah but there’s no fish over there. I’ve been on myr mar’s launches and we caught fish. Might want to look at the Blue Goose too.
