Had to make a quick morning trip Sat as the wife and I had some family events to attend. Fished some South Gravel (deep transition) bouncing spinners and Crawlers. From 7-915 the wife and I boated 10 eyes and were able to keep 4 slots (rest were overs) to give to some of her family members.

My friend Jason met us for the evening and we made it to the water about 6pm. We boped around on some South Gravel again pulling Spinners. We started working deeper transition areas and worked our way shallower as night drew upon us ending in 20′ by 930. The 3 of us only managed 8 fish, boxing only 2 slots.

Sunday Jason and I once again worked DEEP gravel transitions on a few different areas. From 7-12 the two of us managed 12 fish with only 2 making it into the box.

I was really happy to finally get Jason to the lake, he and I work 50+ hrs a week togther and he is really getting worn out. He really enjoyed his time on the water and it talking about trying to get out more with me. It was great to finally see him relax.

Still not marking many fish but am getting bit??? Odd to say the least. I do think I am going to venture out to the Mud on my next ML trip. Watertemps I was seeing were 64 degrees.

Still lots of net chasers out there, once you get on fish make as many passes as you can because the masses are not too far behind and more than 1 or 2 boats will spook the school… Also I have been noticing LOTS of big groups sitting all over one peice of structure with other smaller humps going untouched. Do yourself a favor and get away from the crowds on those humps with no anglers on them. Masses dont catch fish!

Here are some Pics of a few of Jason’s fish.

Great Report Mark. I couldn’t agree with you more about getting away from the crowds and circling back to areas where you mark fish and get bites. Last weekend on several spots the size of a baseball diamond, the fish were loaded and I’d just make a bunch of figure 8’s over them and we’d pickup a fish on almost every pass. I too plan on checking the mud next weekend as I think it just might hold a few fish

Thanks for the report. I love pulling blades and now that the bite is going I won’t be back up again for a few weeks. Atleast I have these reports and pics to keep me sane.

    Nice report Mark.

Fife – By the time you get back to Mille Lacs, the lead core bite will really be in full swing. We caught some dandies over the weekend pulling lead. Nice seeing you at Hunters last weekend.

    Corey,

I saw a picture of you with your Hunter’s Point trophy. I need one of those shirts.

    Dan,
You can find them around the Lake. They’re for a Mille Lacs promo – special for Hornets. Buy any three hornets and get a free T-shirt…
Good luck on your next event!
