I’m headed up to Walker to see Aaron Lewis in a few weeks, was kind of thinking about bringing my ice fishing gear. I haven’t fished up there in over 15 years, what should I expect, where should I look for fish at, etc? Just looking for some general helpful advice if possible.

    thanks!

depends on how hard you want to hit it but you can get on the lake at shore of pine point for a fee. Then you have lots of options and if it on a weekend you see some activity on the lake. I have not been out but I here the perch are stating to bite pretty good.

Have you heard anything regarding size on the perch, Tom?

James and all, we decided to stay on Leech this year and not go to Winni because we thought the size might be better this year on Leech. We had one really nice day where we could move around some, 7 of us cleaned 107, 22 of those over 11 inches, one at 12 inches and none were under 9 1/2 we had a great time and it should only get better. We even caught 5-6 whitefish, 4-5 walleye, and a few hammer handles. Something gave me a good tussle for a couple minutes, sure would have liked to see what I was playing with, it was very big.

Resorts in third river area on northeast side provide access and some pretty good jumbos this time of the year out near the pressure ridge. Keep an ear out for woodpeckers and an eye for eagles, which should be building their nests by now.
