Just got back from a trip with 6 other guys up there. The fishing was incredible, 20 minutes after hitting the water I caught a 25″ ‘eye and it was all gravy from there on out. I quit counting after the first day up there but between the 7 of us we caught probably 150 walleyes, biggest being 27 and a lot being over 24. It was to the point where we wouldn’t even measure or photo the 23s and 24s just unhook them quick and throw em back.
One morning a couple of us went out for a quick 2 hours before breakfast (left the other guys sleeping in the cabin) and the 3 of us caught 12 fish, including a 26 and a 27.
We released everything 18 and up, everyone was able to take fish home and we cooked some while we were up there.
Crawlers and leeches were the clear winner. Not many fish caught on minnows, I caught most of my fish lindy rigging a 6′ snell with a plain hook, no bead, no float. It’s what I had tied on before I left and it worked so good I couldn’t switch. 0.8 MPH seemed to be best when pulling lindy rigs, we found fish in 12-16′ during the day and as shallow as 6 at night.
