Summer perch? – Leech Lake

I know guys get perch during the winter… But do many people fish for them and have any luck during the summer?

Heading to Leech mid July, just looking for some general info.

For what it’s worth, we used to get a lot of them in the weeds in Uram Bay. Crappie minnow under a slip bobber. It’s been a long time since I’ve done it, though.

I don’t have it, but check out the current issue of Field & Stream. There’s a short one pager from a guide that talks about targeting them on Mille Lacs during the summer.

catch quite a few on Portage which is right between north end of Leech and the south end of Winnie in July.

We used to troll Hot-n-tots and bomber’s in the Goose Island area and did quite well.
