Heading up to a cabin on Boy lake this weekend. Never fished Boy and have only fished Leech a couple times during the soft water season. I have a H20C with the lakemaster chip for Leech(don’t think Boy is on there). Any thoughts on depths for Walleyes/Perch. Anyone ever fished Boy in the winter for Walleyes or Crappies?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Hi Has,

I fished Big Boy Lake as a kid, but never in the winter timeframe. I remember large slabs at the time, and great walleye fishing. I know Grow has been fishing Leech as of late, and might be able to chime in with some useful information for ya!!

my uncle has a cabin on the the north end, on the big part of the lake. there should be shacks just to the west of the channel. if you find know where the access is it is to the west. there sitting on a 40 ft hole with a rocky bottum. i have fished that spot for crappies and pouned them. they come through at 20 ft of water, but for the walleyes look at the classic walleye structure. there isn;t alot of preasure so if you catch one there should be more. there is alot weeds in that lake so try the weeds edges first
    hope this helps good luck

We just got back from leech…if you want walleyes your going to have to fish deep in walker bay… deeper than 40- we caught keepers but left shortly after we couldn’t catch them shallower. They pop their air bladder that deep…didn’t want to kill fish.

I wouldnt suggest fishing walleyes that deep they will blow up and not make it even if you reel slow and I mean slow.

Luke is correct you will kill them

Ended up just staying on Big Boy fishing Crappies. Not a ton, 30 or so, but the ones we did catch were all nice keepers. Fished 34-36ft, Glow Green Demons, 3-5ft of bottom.
