Headed up there in mid-Feb, near Nevis to do some fishing with friends. I’ve fished Belle Taine and a few others in the area, but I’m looking for suggestions to try on lakes for numbers of eyes. We’ve got a few in store to try and swing for the fences on a nice-eye bite, but looking for some numbers of fish to keep some friends that don’t fish much interested.

We’d trek over to Leech too, but if there’s something closer, we’d stick around the Nevis area. Suggestions?

If you are after stricly walleyes i would head toward big sand thats fairly close , if you fish belle taine fish weed edges near goat island or the rock piles near crushers on the east end of the lake , there are plenty of crappie, sunfish, perch and pike on the edge of the weedlines and in the bay areas. good luck. You may also want to email jason durham at go fish guide service, he is a great guy and im sure could point you in the right direction…

If you want numbers of “eyes”, the only one showing any numbers has been Fishhook. I know there a tons of lakes with lots of eyes in them but if you want to make sure you get some action on eyes for your friends head over to Leech. You can hit Walker bay or the big lake. Many options. Check with the guys at Reeds Sports fishing dept they should be able to give you some good info on the current bite! Good Luck & stay safe!
