Will be at a resort in the Leech lake area this weekend and it looks like Saturday afternoon or Sunday am I might have a chance to fish Leech Lake for the first time ever. I’ve heard so many good reports this year now that the cormorant population is under control and I’m excited to chase some eyes.

So, in looking at a map of the lake, I’m completely clueless on where to start. Not looking for any GPS coordinates, but could anyone give me a push in the right direction.

What’s working up there these days and should I come prepared to jig, rig, or troll?

    Thanks in advance!

I have had great luck way up in sucker bay this year. 2 weeks ago we caught 10 over 24. All of our fish cane from 7-9 FOW. Look for weeds that come off the bottom at least 3-4 feet. Beetle spins and green jigs were on fire. We were fishing near 2nd duck point.

How was your trip Cougareye? Were the walleyes still on fire like I’ve heard all summer? I’m heading to Leech for the 1st time also in a couple weeks. I plan on doing some multi-species fishing for walleyes, bass & maybe even some muskies.
