The guy who won the FLW last week caught his fish in Walker Bay.

“I caught all my overs except for two within site of the launch,” Stier says. “I left Walker Bay only for an hour on days two and three. Otherwise, I spent all my time within site of the launch.”

Fish came from depths ranging from 13 to 38 feet. Stier changed his bait according to what he saw on his sonar. Big fish, big bait. Small fish, small bait. He focused on what he calls “cups,” working these turns in the contours up and down instead of straight on at a specific depth.

“That’s when I caught a lot of fish,” he says. “Those cups are holding areas. They feel safe there.”

There is a lot of structure out there, more than enough to keep a guy busy for a week. Good luck!

I was on Leech the 18th and 19th and the walleye bite was very good. We caught most of our fish in 12′ and less on shiners, leeches and crawlers. There was action in Sucker bay but that is a hike from Walker. There was also a lot of activity around the narrows and the island just south of Sucker bay. We did manage limits both days but we caught a lot between 18″ and 24″.

    Good luck

With all this no wind weather, I have been looking in the depths and finding fish in 20-30 fow off the humps in the transition areas. Fish are easy to find with electronics. Just sit on them with a jig and shiner or lindy leech/crawler and these fish will bite these days. Usually that is not the case. If the wind blows fish on top.
