Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back, sorry I’ve been away for a while but we had a few things happening to our lives lately, including a beautiful baby daughter last monday.
Fishing on leech has been fair to good so far this fall. The big lake hasen’t been producing large numbers of fish, but the fish being caught are in the 18-25″ range. Most of the fish are coming off the wind driven points using jig and minnow. As the water continues to cool look for the fish to move shallower on these points.
Walker bay has been producing some good numbers of fish with a smaller size average than those of the big lake. Look at fishing the many humps located in Walker Bay, as well as steep breaklines. Jig/minnow presentaions have been working well as well as live bait rigging with large chubs.
Perch fishing continues to be productive, but be prepared to do some sorting. We have a huge population of younger perch that are trying to grow to jumbo’s and are eager to take your jig and minnow.
I also had a chance to fish some of the smaller lakes a couple weekends ago with my brother (pflugy). We found numerous fish in the 60-70′ depths just off a major point as well as numbers of fish in the 45′ range on transitions from hard to soft bottom.
Hopefully the snow will let up (4+” since last night and counting) so we can get out and get in some more fall fishing.
