I take it fishing is really bad or really good.

Sorry I don’t have first hand knowledge but i feel bad for ya that nobody responded. SO here’s a resort report.

LEECH LAKE – Anderson’s Resorts, Tim (1-800-516-0077) Leech Lake has been great this week. The warm weather has just made things better. Many people are still limiting out on nice walleyes. Little Hard Woods, Bigrock Reef and Pelican Island are all very hot right now. Pike and muskie are very active with Bear Island and Walker Narrows being very good. Panfish are coming around also. Fishing is back up here on Leech – come and enjoy!

We were up this past weekend. The mayfly I believe is almost over. Big piles of them on the beach and they filled my boat when we were out on Sat night. We could not get anything under 21 inches where before the keepers were plentiful. On Sat we caught a 25.5 a 26.25 and four around the low 20 mark. So I am going to blame the mayflies on the lack of keepers. We were pulling spinners and rigging leeches in 17-20 ft. There was no wind on Sat. As far as the muskies go I have no idea. From what I heard before the front moved through on Fri they were doing well on the walleyes.

I have always used live bait on Leech, shiners and crawlers. Have you guys ever tried plastics (ringworms, gulp, powerbait) for walleyes on Leech? Any success with them?

I wish I would have taken the time over the years, when the W’s were hitting on shiners and crawlers, to try the plastics and see if they could produce.

    Thanks!

I almost always use live bait. but now that the perch are out I will use gulp worms on the spinner rigs. the perch will tear you up fast. Another thing that goes on now is the rusty craw nipping at leeches. You feel a tap like a walleye is taking it let go of it and come up with a crawdad.
