The best news on Leech is that the walleye fishing and catching has been better this past week. Walleyes are being caught in a few key areas around the lake. During the day anglers can expect to boat some good catches of walleyes north of Five Mile Point in Portage bay in 10-11′ of water pulling crankbaits or live bait rigging. A Roach-Rig tipped with a crawler using a 48-60″ snell has worked very, very well with many fish in the 16-19″ class. Pulling Shad Raps or Berkley Frenzy’s across this large flat area has been the best way to locate the fish. During the evening hours anglers using the same presentations are having good success near Sand Point of Walker Bay and again off Pine Point in Traders Bay.
The muskie fishing has slowed a bit mostly due to the fact the fish seem to be scattered across many types of structure. The rocks on the main lake are holding fish, some fish are still in the cabbage beds and more fish are still being caught from the reeds. Take your pick of how you want to catch-em and start fishing.
Have a great day fishing!!
