    It’s Muskie Time!!

The muskie fishing on Leech Lake has heated up. Good reports from all the Leech Lake Guides including a 53″ fish boated and released this past week. The big fish have been slow getting started this year, however this past weeks results are indication that the biggest fish in the lake have put the feed bags on! Weeds primarily cabbage beds across the lake are holding active fish right now. From Walker Bay to Portage Bay active fish are lurking. Topwater baits and Bionic Bucktails accounted for most of the caught fish this past week. Look for this activity to increase as the summer progresses.

Walleye fishing on Leech remains a bit spotty with most of the success taking place during the twilight hours. Sugar Point and Huddles are two key areas to concentrate on. Live Bait Rigs tipped with crawlers are primary presentations during these times slowly trolled in 8-13′ of water. The day bite has remained mostly a spinner bite. Rock Runner Bouncers with 48″ spinner snells tipped with a Berkley Power Crawler trolled at the base of the rock piles on the main lake in 20-28′ of water. Look for where hard bottom meets the basin of the lake. Areas around Mokey reef good.

Bass fishing is heating up in Boy and Headquarters Bay. Cast Northland JawBreaker spoons and retrieve through/accross the wild rice….and you’ll hook up with some awesome bass right now!

    Go Fish!!
