Walleye anglers having best success these days concentrating their efforts in the evening hours on Leech Lake. Look to Sugar Point, Huddles Reef and Sand Point for very consistent action during the evening hours. Here anglers are using Live Bait Rigs with 30″ snells tipped with minnows, leeches or crawlers trolled very slow for best success. Average size has been good with most fish caught in the 17-20″ range.
Daytime walleye bites have been good pulling Berkley Frenzy Crankbaits or Shad raps near Five Mile and off of Stoney Point in 8-11 ft of water. Some fish also reported on Grand Vu Flats near Goose Island. Cranks working well for covering water, yet some anglers having better success by switching to Live Bait Rigs or Roach Rigs after locating fish with Cranks.
Bass fishing has been good in the emerging rice beds of Steamboat Bay and Boy Bay. Large weedless plastic worms and scum frogs producing fish.
Muskie action remains a bit sluggish even though the weed beds are looking great.
Have fun Fishing Leech Lake.
