Some great catches of walleyes this past week with the deeper humps in Walker Bay, 35’-50’ giving up great numbers of fish. Most anglers using a slip float presentation with a Northland Ghost Grub and a whole live minnow. In order to maximize your catch, minimal resistance to your float assembly is essential. Add enough split-shot weight 12-16″ above the Ghost Grub and make the float almost neutrally buoyant.
In Sucker Bay and Portage Bay great walleye action has started in some of the shallow water. 4-9’ to be specific. Shallow areas around 2nd Duck Point and near two points, Five Mile Point have given up some good catches of 16-20″ walleyes using Northland Buck Shot Rattle Spoons tipped with a minnow head. Cloudy days and evenings have been best.
Perch action continues to be a bit of a struggle to stay on top of the true jumbos. Best reports coming from around Goose Island in 12-18’ depths. Traders Bay has also had some good catches in 18’ of water.
Face winter head on–ice fish!!
