Just a quick report on the 3 Fat German’s trip to Leech. We fished the northeast side and pretty much had the lake to ourselves except for the pelicans and cormorants. Strange to fish Leech and not see more than 1 or 2 boats at a time.
We caught 16 walleyes, 10 of which were 21-22″ and 3 about 23″. One beat up 18″ made the boat also. About half were caught lindy rigging during the day and the rest were caught crankbaiting after dark. With the weather and the bug hatches, we didn’t do too bad.

Yours truly decided to get sick during the trip and didn’t make all the expeditions and only caught one of the fish. Of course, his partners were ruthless in reminding him that he was not living up to their standards.

Bottom line: there are some fish to be caught in that part of the lake but few keepers with the new slots in place. But if you like solitude while walleye fishing, you will find it there.

Putz we were up the weekend of the walleye classic and saw maybe a half dozen tourney boats. No one was fishing the usual community spots lik sub and spots around Pelican. We caught fish around shoreline spots and nothing on the humps where we usually catch em this time of year. Two weeks before that we had a great outing fishing around Battle and sugar point. Two boats for 5 hours caught 13 fish biggest one was 27 inch with one keeper. Of course we had a perfect wind and only 3 other boats where in other years there would of been 100 boats.
