    Hello All,
I’ll be on Leech all next week and was curious how the bite was treating everyone… It sounds like this spring was better than the past few, but is anyone still tracking the old marble eye or would I be better off chasing some bass. Or better yet, maybe working for some toothy critters? Any insight woul be greatly appreciated. I’m really looking forward to squeezing some fishing into a family vacation. I can’t wait until my 2 yr. old takes an interest….maybe next year
Please respond or send me a PM.

Beno, I will also be up there all next week till Friday. I was up there last weekend for the RCL tournement and there were many limits brought in and a few 0’s also. The way we fished was dragging crawlers in 15-20 feet of water on some of the Reefs on the lake. The longer the snell ,the better off you were.Don’t be afraid to go 7,8,9 feet long.Where you staying? Walker bay is hot too. Deep water there pulling leeches and a few other points in the bay are also turning in some dandies to. Good Luck

Thanks for the great info Chappy! I was starting to feel like a cipher with all the views and no replys. Have you had any luck pulling cranks? I ‘ll be staying at a friend’s place on Kabekona Bay. It’s the last cabin on the South side before entering the channel to Bennedict. Anyway, I’ll be on the water when my wife lets me slip away. Say hello if you see me, blk/slv Alumacraft with a Suzuki tiller. I might even have a cold beverage to share

Beno – When are you going up? I’ll be staying next door to you @ Baileys starting Saturday the 7th for the week. I’m in a similar situation (family vaca w/ the 1yr old and 4yr old) I’d like to fit in some night fishing along the way somewhere and I’m looking for a partner. If you’re still up there look me up. (Grey/Silver Lund Explorer with 70 Evinrude)
I’ll definitely have a few cold ones to share!

Thanks for the offer, but I’m heading home as you will be pulling in…. I have been out one evening (well after dark) pulling cranks with some success. Shad Raps and Grapplers were putting fish in the boat. Talk to the owner of Bailey’s, he seems to have the night crank bite dialed in. I believe he even provides some guide service in his sweet rig.
    I won’t be on-line until next week….good luck.

Pulling cranks on the west side of sandy the last three nights landed us a lot of fish. Most caught between 8 and 10:30.

Try that the next few nights. Remember to troll faster, that worked for us.

Bobberal, going to give the wife a couple of days of full attn with the kids and then start walking that fine line of being just annoying enough where she will actually tell me to go fishing but not annoying enough where she won’t welcome me back. I’m thinking by Monday/Tuesday night I will be on the water after we get the kids to bed. I regularly stay @ Hiawatha with my brothers and we fish all the regular spots towards the main lake but have never been in Kabekona or Benedict. Anything back there that will keep the interest of a 4yr old boy?

I’d hit Steamboat Bay for panfish if your close. I don’t do a lot of panfishing, but I have heard that is one of the better areas close to my place. My place is on Moon Light Bay.

    Hey All,
I figured since I started this dang thing I should report on my fishing last week. Considering I was on a family vacation, most of my fishing was done after dark. With the full moon in a waning phase the bite was pretty good. Picked up fish in numerous locations that we tried. Walker Bay and Sand Point area were consistent producers trolling Wally Divers and Grapplers. In addition, we picked up some nice fish in Kabekona Bay along the South Shore. All trolling cranks well after dark. Thanks for the replys fellas!

The 3 Fat Germans and 1 Fat Bohemian made a trip up to Leech over the weekend of the 14th. We didn’t go after any bass in the rice like we planned but we each spent at least 15 hours chasing walleyes. 60 hours of fishing by experienced fishermen only resulted in 3 walleyes. That’s a tough bite. We were pulling live baits in the morning and cranks at night. Now I hear that they are not expecting a good walleye hatch on Leech this year because of the cold water. All this and a “We’ll see” attitude about cormorants may force me to switch big lakes in the future. Winnie isn’t that much farther.
