Evening 5/13 on Leech

With weather improving, I got out for two hours in the evening and tried a different area that I have been thinking about. The 15-20 inchers were out to play this time which is a good sign after this weekend’s mostly female bite. Five out of six fish were boxers though I only kept one.

    Cheers and hook-sets!

Looks like fun! Is there any ice left on Leech?

Nope, we have been ice free since May 8th.

    Fancaster,

Nice report, but I have to ask a question not directed at you but a lot of members in general. Why is it that when somebody has a report of catching X amount of fish do they say “But I(we) only kept 3 or 4 out of 12 keepers” Do people have to justify that they are conservationists? Just posing a question.

I think your overthinking it…He’s just stating a fact on what he kept. Nothing more, nothing less…

Good point. Most people who know me know that I’m not after maximum pounds of fillets, I just like catching fish and sometimes harvesting for a meal. I guess I just assume some people like to see the “body count” photos attached to a decent report. Maybe it would have made more sense to say “I kept one and ate it crispy fried on a sandwich with tomato and mayo”?

Sometimes I keep a limit and sometimes not.

I love seeing posts that a few nice ones went back into the water. Especially around spanning time. (for the fish that is)

Only on the shorelines. Stoney Pt. still had a bunch of ice piled up on it earlier in the week. The trees on the shore took a beating this spring as they looked like giant rabbits had chewed all the bark off where the ice has rubbed them down to the wood.
