For those of you wondering about ice out this year, I think we are going to make it easy. The last few warm days have done great damage to the ice and is starting to pull from shore and looking darker and darker. Bring on the opener, walleyes are waiting for us!!!

The wind and rain are doing their job. Kabekona bay is about 2/3 open now and there is open water 100yards out in front of the Chase, Cochran’s Marina and towards 1st point. Also, half of Steamboat bay and Walker Narrows are open. It will be interesting to see what happens when the wind switches out of the N.W. tomorrow.

I hate to contradict my original post but after looking at walker bay today im not so sure it will make it by the 10th. I cant say about the big lake, haven’t seen it.

April showers will bring May Walleye-ers!

I drove by Whipholt today and the ice looked like junk.
Steamboat bay, Shingobee bay, Kabekona bay, Traders bay Walker Narrows and along Pine pt and Sand pt are mostly open.

Pic is from Whipholt looking N.W.

    This mornings recon…

The first pic is from Stony Point. The second pic is from atop of the ice. The good news is, besides shoreline ice, there is open water as far as the eye can see from Stony Pt. Walker bay has quite a bit of ice yet.
