Perch on Leech

So I know that the perch fishing on leech is legendary and when I was out there last week I did my best to get into some. I set up between sand and cedar point in about 10 FOW. I had a glow jig with a fathead minnow as my deadstick, then was switching between a rattl’n flyer spoon and a swedish pimple. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get them to bite. I would watch all the people around me catch fish while I was striking out. What is the missing piece to my perch puzzle?

I would just keep on changing, size, color, small jigs and plastics. It can be easy to find reasons not to re-tie, especially in the cold but the work is usually rewarded. Were you marking fish on your flasher?

I did okay last night fishing a gold slender spoon or gold frostie tipped with a minnow head. The big ones are either there or they are not. If I don’t get one quality sized perch in 10 min. I will move to a different hole. It seems like the jumbos will hit right away if they are present and eating. I find rattle spoons to be really hit or miss on Leech. Sometimes it attracts them and other times it repels them.
