Anyone know how the ice is on Leech yet? I’m sure all the snow isn’t helping much. Got a trip planned up there in a few weeks. Thanks.

Over all it isn’t very good. I would advise taking it area by area. There are some areas that are setting up okay for foot travel or snowmobile but it is going to be a while for trucks imo. Shores at pine pt isn’t letting any one out as of yet but they told me they might try to plow a little road out in a week or two. The areas I checked this weekend had 6″ of ice with a 4″ wet slush layer and 10″-15″ of blown snow on top. If it warms up a little I’ll be able to update this.

Some of the shallow bays have ice that is 7″-8″ but still variable as far as slush. It’s not too pretty out there, be safe! Sorry about the bad “selfie”.

I checked a few spots on walker bay today and turned back pretty quickly. I found 4″ of good ice with rough ice, slush and then 0″-15″ of snow on top. There are a lot of dark areas where it has flooded. It could be a while before we have “safe” ice on the bay.

Thanks again for the continued updates! I have a trip planned up there for Jan. 8- Jan. 12. Needless to say, I’m ok if the deep freeze hangs around for a while….

There is decent ice for wheelers with chains and snowmobiles out of Pine Pt. now. If you are on foot, find a snowmobile track and go. The bite has been good in the evening.

Walker bay is setting up pretty well for wheelers and sleds but slush and ice thickness is still variable so check as you go. Some places I saw 6″ of good ice with 4″ of crud on top, other places had 10″ of good ice. The evening bite has been pretty good with lots of 10-15 inchers.

How are things on Leech? Heading up there a week from today. Hoping the deep freeze has helped the ice.
