Several buddies and I are headed to leech lake this weekend on our annual fall perch and walleye trip. Anyone have any recent info. That they care to share. We are staying on the north end of steamboat bay so any info. On the side of the would be most helpfull. Not looking for anyone’s hotspot ( although I will take them as well ) just some general area and patterns to get us started in the right direction. If you would prefer to pm me that would be fine as well. Thanks in advance for the replies and info.

I 2nd this request. We are arriving at Big Rock Resort on Sunday and fishing until Wednesday. It will be my first time fishing it in the fall.

Any water temps or conditions? I hope this late summer isnt going to make tough conditions.

I will be up there too Saturday-Tuesday. Just my luck it looks like a big low pressure system coming in on Friday. I am staying on Pine Point.

I haven’t fished it in a little bit but have some buddies who have been pounding them. If you are a jig and plastic or minnow guy, you’re in luck! The fish have really started to push shallow on wind blow rocky shoreline and points. Also long lining #7 shad raps in low light periods has been off the hook. Sandy/gravel points and flats adjacent to deep water in 6-10 feet has been the ticket.

You can always go out to the Walker bay humps with Snap raps or jigging raps and clobber some of the deeper water walleyes. It’s such a fun technique to fish, and the fish pound it. Around 35 feet has been the best area.

I can’t be much of assistance in the perch department!

Was on Leech Yesterday for a few hours after the big front went through Saturday night. Was able to check 4 spots before it got to rough for my Father’s back and headed in. Did not mark much for fish until last spot and we boated 3 fish with the biggest 22″. Jig and fathead close to the boat in 8-11′ of water. I saw one other eye caught for all 4 spots we checked. Talked with a couple of guys at the landing and they said they did very well on Sat with jig/minnow but today they did very poor.

    Have a great time!

?. Is it possible to get fish caught at these depth to survive when released? I am not sure what the cut line is on this issue. I know those out of 45 FOW have almost no chance of survival when released.

A fellow contractor/friend will be heading up wed. Night here and I want to send him off with a little tackle goodie bag, what are the hot jig and crank colors nowadays? He will be trying out his brand new 2014 Tyee and figured maybe some jigs and cigars might break it in well. Can PM me any other info as well I would pass along thanks guys.

I vote for 1/8-1/4 oz green lead heads and a couple of #12 chrome Husky Jerks for night trolling.

Favorite jig by far is the odd ball in a 1/8oz, chart, then pink, black, or clown.
