Well June is about over and for me it means a change in how I approach the walleyes on leech lake. Annually I fish rocks during the month of June. This year has been a little different as the rocks gave me some good days but not up to pare with years past. With a slow day on the rocks Monday (6/24) I have made the transition from jigs and minnows to rigs and leeches or crawlers. Even did some bobber fishing with some success. The cabbage is on its way and the walleyes are calling them home along with other weed types. The summer walleye pattern is in place. The 25th, 26th & 27th I had very good fishing with 3 different presentations. The 25th I had walleyes pulling down bobbers with leeches in the cabbage. The lake was flat and walleyes will hold in the cabbage in these conditions. The 26th I drug leeches on rigs on a slow tapering flat with sparse weeds and did well. The 27th I had better success rigging with crawlers near a break with a very good west wind. The numbers were high on this day. There is a very good size mix of walleye this year and its great to see.

    Great report Tom!
It looks like the great Walleye fishing continues out there. I wish I had more time to fish!

Great report, really shows not to get in a rut of doing the same thing every time out even if you had luck the previous day!
