How is the ice on Leech Lake at the public access north of Walker on 371.

Walked out yesterday the shore is pulling out. I did find one spot to drive on with a wheeler water on top of the ice. Check the ice as you go out also watch spots where fishhouses set up this winter as the ice is thin. Windy yesterday which will open up holes in the ice. Go with another person. Use caution.

thats why I said use caution. I had the wheeler loaded and was going to fish by myself and decided not to risk it. Dont have my will yet.

and I’m hoping for ice out there by the openor but as of now its still ice to shore all around the lake. The road runs close to Agency bay you can park along the road and drive out on the lake lots of spots to access even past the bridge on hwy 13

May 3, 2013 at 11:40 am #1167927Ive seen a few groups on the lake up by sand Pt. Usually on the weekends some guys are out. Stony Pt some guys access from dont know what the shore looks like there. But its close to Agency bay. I wouldnt doubt some guys will be on Agency this weekend.

Yes I guess may 15th or no later than the 24th
Last report from me about leech today. First no you wont be fishing leech in a boat. Only small lakes here.
Took a drive today shot some pics up buy Agency bay channel going into traders bay. One spot I did find and drilled with my strikemaster good ice to walk and fish. This area was on the south west shore in Traders bay found a good foot of ice didnt need planks to walk out.
Ice honeycombed
Hit stony Point no for boat access. Last Whipholt no again so set up plan B.
Pics first Agency bay and channel Traders bay Stony Pt then Whipholt.
Good luck on opener.
