I snuck out tonight to a smaller lake east of Backus. The ice was at least 20″ if not a bit more. Hardly any snow on the ice. It was tough to find snow to bank the portable. The bait of choice tonight was my 5/8oz glow green. I set up in about 20′ of water. It wasn’t fast action but I ended up with 2 perch, 3 walleyes, and pout and a rock bass. The red eye was the only thing to hit the bobber rig. The eyes weren’t huge, right around 15″, but they will taste good tomorrow!
