A buddy and I are looking to spend a long weekend fishing Pike on Leech lake. Neither of us have ever ice fished for Pike on the lake. Anyone care to share some Info. to get us pointed in the right direction. Not looking for personal spots just general areas to try. Thanks in advance for any and all Info.

Do you have a sled or wheeler or are you going by car/foot?

They do alot of spearing of Northerns in Steamboat Bay so i would think it might be a good place to start. Sorry I don’t have more details but I don’t ice fish rather the resort owner in Steamboat Bay tells us in the summer when we stay how good the spearing is in the winter in Steamboat.

With sleds you have a lot of options. Steamboat bay east of MN island is good. The drop offs on the N.W. side of Kabekona bay can be great, and near either enterance to Boy bay (North or South of Bear Island) can be productive. In any case, I like to fish flats with cabbage weeds near the drop-off.
