Leech lake. Sat I fished with a friend and Son for walleye before the season ends. The Lake ice is great over 30″. Sat. in Walker bay a truck crossing the ridge in Walker Bay dropped his front end in the crack. Up by Goose Island another truck broke thru another ridge by the Hardwoods. Dont cross any ridge without checking the ice on both sides of the ridge!! It looks like we have a big storm hitting the Walker area with 12 to 16″ of snow. Use caution if you snowmobile on the lake with all the snow any old fishouse that moved will be covered with snow with a ridge and hard pack ice and snow. Trail riding should be great. Perch fishing should heat up for the next month till ice out.

Do you know if the access off of 371 by Shingobee is still good to go….the one at the old one time restaurant the natives now own? Anyone plow out of that?

That access is fine now but after the snow I dont think anyone will be plowing but maybe someone will. Ill be running this Blazer on the lake to test it and have some fun.

Hey, do you know how the perch fishing has been lately? Coming up next weekend to give it a try. Wondering if you have any tips or anything that I should look at doing. What do you use for big perch. I just want to come up there and target some nice 14+ inchers. I know I won’t catch many if any but that is the plan!

Fish shallow areas like flats off Sand Pt. with weeds off sharpe breaks and the Goose Island area use a rattling jig like lindy with a minnow head. Also try maggots and wax worms packed on a treble. Watch the ridges!!!

My best Perch bait this year is by far the silver Lindy Rattlin’ Flyer.
