Last year we fished Leech near the end of Sept. We did Ok but the average size was on the small side – Locals said we missed the bigger fish by about a week ( Story of my life ) do the bigger perch usually come in to the shallow water ahead of the smaller fish. If so how far ahead are they? Anyone do well on sunfish on leech in the fall. I’ve heard they do well in the rushes in the fall. I’d really like to get in on a good bite for them as well if possible.

We just got back from 4 days on Leech and the Perch are starting to show up in the shallow areas. We caught alot of Perch, but you will have to do some sorting. We caught some big perch and I would say our average size was around 9″. Also I trolled 2 nights for walleyes and ended up getting my limit both nights If you want any more specific info feel free to PM me.

Last year we were able to get the bigger ones by trolling #5’s. Apparently only the bigger ones can get their mouths around those back trebles. Crank sorts em out so you don’t have to.

last week the small ones were hitting #7’s, didn’t seem to work that well to sort them out. About 10 small ones to 1 decent one.

Pulling cranks has been my strategy as well to not catch the smaller ones, it just wasn’t working so well last week. The larger ones we caught were tasty though and nothing wrong with reeling in a few fish, kept my wife and mom busy.
