The walleye fishing remains pretty good. The last 4 days I have had only one slow day and even that day we caught some fish with this past Saturday and Sunday being the best. I am still using the jig and minnow combo and I see no reason to switch just yet. I also am still fishing rocks in 8 to 14ft. As usual the bite is better with some wind but the fish do not leave the area when its calm and can still be caught.

The weekend had a mix of weather but the fishing was as good as any time this year so far with many fish being caught with a perfect mix of keepers for the box and larger fish for the excitement. Saturday I had a 1/2 day trip and boated 15 or so walleyes with 7 nice keepers. Sunday was a little better with near 30 walleyes and a limit of keepers. Active jigging is key!!

They are not every where on the rocks but I am fishing off shore rocks. Almost no one is useing jigs and minnows anymore and the style of jigging is key. I am not a fan of running rigs in the rocks but im sure it can be done. I go thru some jigs but the active jigging helps keep them above the rocks.

Great Report! I’m not a jigging guy so what do you mean by “active Jigging”? Like floating it above the bottom?

Jigs and shiners for the fourth of July weekend. Unbelieveable but I will take. However it looks like you better have it all. Rigging, slow death and the jigs.

Bill I am fishing off shore rocks with jigs & minnows. Got alot of nice fish this morning but only 4 keepers. I do know of other spots giving up fish on the shorelines. Most all anglers are rigging right now. I know a few that are pulling spinners with crawlers. There is evidence of some hatch but not the mother load yet. This heat will bring it on heavy I would think.

I sure like jigging but only with the shiners. Which with the heat might be difficult to keep alive. Hopefully the bugs will hold off until next week. We are the south side so hopefully the bugs will stay off shore. Does not look like any strong north winds blowing in the near future so we should be safe. Thanks for your help

As for jigging with shiners I know what you mean but I have been out a few times when I couldnt get shiners and used rainbows. They worked just as good
