I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some walleyes on leech. I havent fished the lake in 15 years and my wife and i are going up for the next week. Everything I hear is anywhere on the lake is good but we know that isnt true. I was wondering if anyone can get me started.

A good starting point would be the points and windy shore areas by Goose island the key is fish the spots with the wind blowing in. Goose flats Pine Pt the narrows area star point fish 8 to 12 ft with a jig and a shiner youll see boats out in all these areas. Lots of shallow rock reefs also to fish the lake is big no need to fish with the crowds
Sand point area can be good in the weeds.

Also, fish the DOWNWIND edges of bays and the spot on the points where the current/wind comes around. The fish will be in those areas if they are in a feeding mood.
May 22, 2011 at 2:27 pm #967978thanks for the good tips. we own a 20 acre peice of property east of whipolt and i was dreading putting my boat in on the south end. Knowing that the wind can make it a rough ride when it blows out of the north. I know the lake is very large and you narrowed it down to a good starting point. Typically i would fish some of the smaller honey holes around longville rather then leech but the father in law is pushing the leech idea.

I live 2.5 miles from whipholt you have alot of spots to fish on this side for one east of bear island up in boy bay is good for all species Bear island to suger point is good depending on the wind the clay banks early. many spots to try.
I guide full time on leech if you want a half day trip send me a pm. If you have a good size boat you can hit the sugar point area and launch in Whiphlot. Nice sand Launch.

WalkerJune 10, 2011 at 2:39 pm #972420Hey guys sorry it took so long to get back to you. Hit up pine point for starters. It was pretty slow. Ran into agency bay after hereing the bite was on there. In four hours picked up 20+ fish mostly on lindy rigs biggest being a 26 incher. Had 7 for the box for 2 guys. Pretty good day of fishing. I will be hitting the rocks this weekend see you guys out there
June 16, 2011 at 9:37 pm #973905Hey Fishnut, how’s that canal between Trading Post and Agency? Last year, if I remember, it was pretty shallow.
We’re heading up to Huddles on Saturday for the week, anything else you all can share as far as how the fishing is on the east/south side?
June 16, 2011 at 10:42 pm #973910Lake is high now no problem going thru it.
Jigs and minnows are still working alot of the rock humps by huddles hold fish north of olson reef. If the wind is blowing into the Red Rocks that can be good spinners are working now with a large chub or lindy and crawler is going good also if you like to run the lake head to sugar Pt five mile and work you way back annex reef or north bar all hold fish.
Ive caught fish on all of these spots you need to travel until you find them work some breaklines in 18 to 20 ft.
