Marina Specks

Having stayed at a particular campground several years in a row now…I knew that the crappies would be in the marina somewhere. I used my U/W camera to go from dock to dock and look around the boats and the pilings. It took a while but I finally found a school of fish in the back end of a marina in about 4 ft of water. What was amazing was how tight the fish were packed…all together in a ball all under one boat. I wish I could have recorded the video of it because there were crappies, rock bass, largemouth, walleyes, and dogfish all in this ball under one boat. I started out with a tube but nothing, switched to a plain minnow and split shot but nothing. Finally put on the smallest hook and a minnow and no split shot and slowly let the bait fall to the bottom. Crappies found that hard to resist.

I think the weather last weekend had something to do with their behavior, but I managed to fool a nice bunch of fish from 11-13 in.

    Leech sure has nice crappies.

Way to go with making use of the u/w cam when most are leaving them at home during open water.

I am not surprised that Jason has a U/W camera in boat!
What’s surprising is that there is room for Jayson in the boat!
    Nice fish!

I was amazed to see several nice walleyes in 4′ of water in the marina in with these fish. I tried to get them to take but they were not interested in the least.

Next time I need to figure out how to record video from my Marcum cam.
