I’ve been invited to make the trip down to Storm Lake, IA to fish in a team tournament in mid-April. I believe it is the weekend after Easter (April 18 and/or 19). This is not the I.O.W.A. event, which is scheduled for the first weekend of April.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to make the trip…had a great time last time I fished down there. Does anyone here have any more info about the Apr 18/19 event? Entry fee, catch/slot limits, payback, size of field, etc?

My partner for the event (who also happens to be my wife’s uncle Bill) registered us yesterday. Hopefully I’ll be able to meet some of you Storm Lake guys down there.

    Hey Jason,

My wife and I have registered and are fishing in the tournament. I’ll keep my eye out for you, it would be a pleasure to meet you. I’m looking forward to the tournament…should be lots of fun. I’ll be up on Saturday to do some pre-tournament fishing.

    Sounds good!

I’ll likely be the only guy there wearing a Boston Red Sox hat, so I should be easy to pick out. Be sure to introduce yourself. See you there.

are you only able to have one fish over the 22″ slot? Never fished there, but know plenty who do.

yes only 1 over 22, all between 17-22 must be released. Same as the IGL’s only a 5 fish limit instead of 3.

I see that the I.O.W.A. circuit posponed their planned event to April 19. I assume that means that the Binning event will be canceled or rescheduled, since the Binning event is going to use all of the I.O.W.A. circuit’s equipment for their weigh-in.

If anyone learns about the fate of the Binning event, please post it here. Thanks!

I just received word from Binning Outdoors that they and IOWA plan to hold both events on the 19th. I’ll post any additional info that I receive right here.

I just received an update from Binning Outdoors…they have moved their event to Saturday April 18, with the I.O.W.A. event held on the 19th.

    There goes my pre-fishing

Well, it sure was damp, all right!

We did ok, but fell 0.60 lbs short of a paycheck. We ended up 12th in a field of 58, weighing 4 fish (all under the 17-22 protected slot). No overs were caught during the event on Saturday (or the I.O.W.A. event on Sunday), so it was a battle to see who could bring in the most 16 3/4″ fish.

We caught 3 of our 4 keepers (all 16.25-16.75″) on the north end, pitching the rocks with light jigs and plastics or crawler halves.

Fun, well-organized event on a great lake. I hope the event runs again in 2010, and if it does, I’ll be back!
