I spent half of Thurs, Fri, and Sat. chasing some farm pond perch in Central Iowa. We didnt catch a ton of fish, but for this area, the quality was awesome!
Thursday, my buddy ended up with a sumo right at 13.25″
Friday I got the same treat, an identical fish.
And Saturday, we ended up getting 5 perch over 12″.
Totals were 8 Thursday, 9 Friday, and a dozen Saturday.
The presentation was pretty typical of perch, drill a ton of holes, jump around, and catch the few active fish. We were using Swedish Pimples and Lindy Frostees, tipped with spikes. Here are some pics from the last 3 days.
At the owners request, we kept all the perch. The perch were someones “midnight stocking” into his pond, and he would rather they not be there. When the perch are running this size, Id love to have a pond full of them, these are not that common in Central Iowa. I kept a handful to eat, and gave the rest to some relatives that eat fish but dont get out much.
