Got out Friday to see if the crappies were biting. Hit my typical spots on the main lake with no luck. I moved into the Lost Lake area and found the crappies suspended about 8 feet down in 18-20 foot of water. Couldn’t get a bite on minnows so jigs were the ticket. Chartruese glitter was the color. I started out throwing jigs on 6 lb test and although I was detecting bites I couldn’t seem to hook up. I switched to 4 lb test and started catching fish. I kept an even dozen nice crappies (9-10 inches). Water temp was right at 40 degrees, so it wont be long before the crappies head for the deep water. May get out again this week.
