Met with Andy this morning below the roller dam here in town to fish for walleyes. We fished the only breakline in that stretch of river and a block down river from the dam for 3/4 of a mile and no hits. It took us a little time to find what water worked best with the jigs we were using and to stay on the bottom and not even a bump. The water droped 6″ from last night and usually when the waters going down here its a slow bite, today was no diffrent. This breakline looked very good and is right next to two gravel bars but no hits. Andy tried ringworms and jigs with minnows and I worked a white twistertail with minnows and it was slow. Eigther the walleyes have spawned of are spawning. What surprised me is no smallies or even a bump from a sheephead or carp. The waters 5′ over normal level right now and dropping. Anybody around the area here doing any good on walleyes?
Walleyes are slow on the cedar river
