Fished some pits up by Northwood on sat. Pretty slow most of the day, caught a few decent gills early in the morn, rest of the day was tough to get bit and it was usualy a small gill. Sun fished a small pond with crappies and gills that absolutly will not bite until dark during the winter. Caught 5 crappies and 3 gills that were eater sized from 6:00pm to 7:30pm then they shut down. Saw alot of fish on the vex but couldn’t get most of them to bite. Then monday to my surprise my LX-5 showed up on my door step (I didn’t think UPS would deliver mon. because of the holiday), so I had to try it out Mon night. Went back to the same pond getting set up by 5:00pm and couldn’t catch a fish until 6:00. Caught a few suspended crappies on a glow ratfink and a couple of gills aroung 8″. By 7:00pm all I had on the LX-5 was fish on the bottom witch I assumed were gills, but could not get them to bite. I then switched to a red glow mini mert charging it as long as I could stand to keep my jig out of the water and the marks on the bottom came flying up and hammered it. I had to have a sufficiant charge on the glow mini mert to get bit and ended up catching 5 eater size gills and 3 over 9.5″ on the glow red mini mert from 7:00- 7:30pm then they were done. The LX-5 is a huge improvement over my old FL-8 Vex and helped out alot with knowing exactly were my jig was.
