Was out on macbride today searching yet again for a wallleye bite. I had no luck, but I did have a blast cat fishing- I was fishing in 13 FOW, and using my blue/silver foil lightning spoon. Shad were coming in and out on the screen at five foot, and there were some bigger returns below them. I thought I had found the hybrids again at first. But as I fighting the first fish that took my offering, I knew it wasn’t a hybrid. But these cats still fight very well.
Lake Macbride has been putting up quite the array of fish for me so far this year. If you like catfishing- get out there on the ice, and give them a whirl, they’ll eat anything. I wasn’t even using any bait…
Like always, find the shad, and you will find the bigger predator fish.
I caught 15 or so like the one pictured, and a few that were pushing 6-8 lbs.
See you on the hard water!
