Anyone around the Cedar river area wanting to catch catfish go to just about any creek that enters the cedar and you should find some and some are big! While at the baitshop telling John where i was going he said he has a friend that was fishing the creek too and a lady, by herself, showed his friend a 25 pound flathead that she pulled up out of the water that was on her stringer. In the spring it dosen’t take much water to bring and hold catfish in the local creeks. Ive talk to people over the years telling them how many and what kind of catfish and thier size are in the local creeks and to some its hard to believe but thier there. We used stinkbait worms and Sonny’s stinkbait and caught 9 nice pansized fish a few nights ago and about 2 miles from the house. Most of the local creeks also hold nice sized smallies that come up every spring, got a couple around the 20″ mark last year. After the spring rains stop and the water drops down look for the holes and troughs and just start fishing. Fish the faster deeper current, the breaklines where slower and faster water meet and the slack water areas, thier in there, you may be surprised!

The best product ever to come from Iowa is Sonny’s Super Sticky. They know there stink down there. I like to fish creek mouths on the Wisconsin River this time of year. They are pre-spawn and the warmer water makes them hungry. My buddy popped a northern on it last weekend. I bet it had bad breath for a while.

Both Sonny’s and Bowkers is good. Creek mouths are ok here but i’ve found its better up in the creek aways, i suppose it has to do with how deep the creek mouth is. Sometimes you can’t fish with two poles they hit so fast, creeks are good.
