I fished the section that contains trout as well as smallies this weekend and pounded both. No walleye, but don’t think there are many that far up, and with the water so clear, they might not have been responsive at the time i was fishing.

For the guys wanting to know where i can give a general area. Down river from the dam in Elkader and south of 13 on the volga. When your around the volga river-highway 13 section go into Osborne park and take a walk through. For you that haven’t been there theres alot of nice animals and birds of prey to be seen besides the cougar, bobcat, coyote, deer and bear, the two does are about ready to give birth or have. Wade fishing the cuts around each bridge that crosses the turkey and volgas a good place too start. In the volga a cut or hole thats 4′ deep is a nice hole if you can find one but thier in cuts or troughs 2′ deep too, watch for gravel and rock bottoms and bends in the river with deeper water in them. Also watch for dead trees and the deeper water around them. If you can find a dead tree in the water with a hole around it next to swifter water thier honey holes. Keep you eyes open for sheds too, found one side of 140″ three weeks ago right along the waters edge. The turkeys really a good river right now, fish rocky shorelines with sand on the other side of the river. Last week donald, daves son knew of atleast 4 smallies that were over 20″ caught in that week, not too bad!
