I spent 2 or 3 hours on Palo Yesterday. Very windy over there from the NE. No fish. Had more trouble than anything. Water temp was 57.1 on the x85. It was one of those days when you kept asking yourself if maybe God wants you to quit fishing. Nuff said.

Got out saturday 5/11 in the morning. My temp gauge was busted, caught 5 bass from 12-14″ between 630-830 but the rain and ne wind creating white caps made fishing tough. saw some lightning and headed in. overall promising, but disappointing to have that weather after the beautiful day friday i witnessed outside my window at work.

I was out there last night for an hour or two. Some guys at work were claiming that they caught some ‘gills and crappies in the shallows off the pier. As it turns out, they are biting in less than 1′ of water, but the size isn’t very good. There were maybe two out of a dozen that could have given up enough fillet to feed an Ethiopian. Put it this way – with a 5’ ultralight and 2lb test, they were still overmatched.

Did see some smaller bass up cruising on the shallows also. Threw a small crank for a while, but the shallow water combined with the algae made it impossible to keep the lure from fouling, and it only runs about a foot deep. Switched up to a spinnerbait to keep out of the muck, but would have been shocked if anything hit it.

Some teenagers fishing the dock went ape when they saw a nice muskie (or so they claimed, loudly and profanely). I believe they saw something, as they spent the next 1/2 hour chucking baits after it.
