Amber, and I had a chance to fish Kent park for one hour the other night- It has a really nice walking trail all the way around the lake, except where the beach is. I was impressed with numbers of bass, but not the size. All of the fish seemed to be cookie cutter size. No matter how I fished, they were the same size. We threw texas rigged blue/black tube’s deep, and or around submerged structure, and caught bass. We through topwater clacker buzzbaits and caught bass. Deep or on top, they were all the same size.

I think I might have missed one big fish. I threw the buzzbait into a pocket, one big boil. I quickly grabbed the tube rod, and threw it back- smack, I set the hook and nothing. I figured she wouldn’t hit it again- but she did, I stuck her so hard, I though I was going to break my rod. The fight lasted about five seconds, and she came un-hooked…

Anyways- Kent Park would be an excellent choice for area fishermen to get your kids/spouses into fishing. Amber really loved catching the bass on topwater! There is also catfish, walleye, bluegills, and crappies in the lake!

Good Luck! Stay safe, and we’ll see you on the water!

I’ve noticed a lot of you bass guys have been fishing at night. Do you use the same presentations at dusk and after dark that you use during the day?? Nice pics.

I do, I will usually throw plastics until I get bored, and you can never beat a buzzbait summer night. The bass just go crazy while the sun sets, and after it sets. The only problem is being able to see your casts, and hear/feel when your buzzer/frog goes down.

Hi. What’s the pink line you’re using? Are you using it becasue of the color or for other reasons?

JP- It is 20# test pink fireline… BrianK loves it!!

The reason that I use it, is because I feel I can see it better at night when fishing plastics. Some of the bass I fish, just bairly pick up the bait, so much in fact, that you can’t feel them on the most expensive rod on the market. That is when it is nice to see the line “jump” just a fraction…yellow/pink/red, anything helps moreso than clear line. Also it is a superline (fused), so it is twenty pound test, but only 8 pound diameter.

There are some great mono lines out there, that can be used in conjuction with a black light, when night fishing smallmouth…

Looks like fun! Don’t forget black spinnerbaits parallel to shore at night. And there are a few honkers in Kent but you are right the majority are 14-16 inchers from past experience.
