WOW! What I saw yesterday was simply amazing! I got to witness one of my favorite lakes to fish in a new way today. The water has turned almost crystal clear and the conditions were calm, perfect for sight fishing. We saw some big, big bass moving up and working the beds. We did nothing but look for fish for 2 hrs. without wetting a line. Just seeing these fish was almost as much of an adrenaline rush as catching them. We wern’t able to coax any of these “bed” fish into biting this day but, it was not for the lack of trying. They just wern’t locked on yet. Did I mention that we saw some big bass?

We only caught 4 bass today, a couple of nice 4lbers and I had one get off right at the boat.

The water temp was 64 degrees when we arrived and was 69-70 by 5pm. What a fun day and a relly neat experience!

Well Luke, to me, that is a question with multiple answers….. I think that the answer depends on the body of water you are fishing. Right now we have water temps all over the map depending on the size and location of the lake you are targeting. Small lakes and farm ponds in southern Iowa have spawn to post spawn conditions for the most part, and lakes up north with early pre-spawn conditions.
After looking at the forcast for the next 10 days, I don’t think the water temp will change enough to turn them off for too long. JMO

We were basically right on top of them in the boat….2-3 feet maybe?
