Dad and I made it out today on a small lake. Here’s how the day went. Started off flipin some tubes in deeper water cover. We fished one whole side of the lake doing that but nothing came out of it and it was getting to windy you couldn’t feel a bite at all. As we were coming down the other side of the lake dad forced himself to use a suspending jerkbait after a few cast I see him set the hook on a PIG but all the fish got was one treble hook on the back of the lure, I was down on my knees waiting to lip it but the bass spit the hook. Maybe two or three more cast he sets the hook and lands his first bass on a jerkbait! After awhile he gets another, now I put one on and start throwing one, after awhile we got to this one place and I toss the jerkbait in there and missed him on the pause. Then dad hooks up and lands one. So then I work the same spot and I set the hook and he got around some cover but got him out, my first bass on a jerkbait! Then we called it a day. Sure had a good time and I got the money off my back. If we wouldn’t of missed any we could of had 8 or 9 in the boat.

Way to go guys, glad you got that monkey off your back, I went to Sweet Marsh today and caught a mess of gills and crappies for supper. It was a beautiful day to be on the water.

Got to throw this in about the warmer weather, went down to the cedar this early afternoon and drifted minnows along side a deep cut next to a sand and gravel bar with no luck. Did see a big hatch that had been formed, don’t know what they were but about an inch long and black with wings, had a few fly onto my shirt and jacket. Then looked in the water and it looked like some kind of bug hatching material, maybe from this hatch was floating on the water and the mallards on the water were hoarding it down. Small spiders are on the rocks too. The hens and drakes are paired up now and the drakes are starting to ride tandem.
