Andy Craig and I, met up on the river tonight to chase white bass. Between the two of us, I am guessing we caught 80 fish- We both started out with 1/8 ounce bft precision jigs…no bites for 10 minutes. We both said “we need to go lighter”, and went lighter, 3/32 ounce was the ticket. We had each had five fish in five casts-consecutively. We then continued to catch fish, ever other, or every third cast. They were stacked, but the 1/8 was just falling too fast. If we wouldn’t have had the 3/32…it probably would have been a long night- They haven’t made their run up to the dam yet…
    Get out and get em!!!

Luke and Andy, looks like another great outting for you guys.

I will have some info on white bass fishing East Okoboji in the August issue of Iowa Game and Fish. They sure are fun to catch.

We get fish from 2-3#’s every year out of East.I’m sure the next state record white will come out of East.

Are you guys fishing the Iowa river? We are still locked up here on the Iowa around Eldora, but we dont get too many whites up this way, especially not this early. Glad to see someone is catching fish, if you need another guy tomorrow when its 60 degrees, feel free to call me.

Luke have you heard about the wihte bass run in Des Moines. Every year they come up river and stop at the Scott street dam by the thousands. Read an article one year that in some years thier so thick that you could walk across the river on thier backs and 100 fish a day per person is par almost every year. This is also a very good place for walleyes in the spring, they write alot of tickets for over limits there every year when they stack up below the dam.

Dave- my ice fishing gear, is always in my truck- well until april- But, I am not aware of any safe ice, anywhere?

Mossy- I haven’t fished the des moines river that much yet..

I mostly fish the lakes/pits in des moines when I am there-
    Sounds like a blast though!!
